Our Approach

When launching Where's Winnie, we knew that minimising our impact on the planet was always going to be a major priority for us. Where's Winnie is a small company, but we have big ideas for sustainability within the pet product market. We believe that everyone, from huge organisations down to you and me, has a responsibility to think and act sustainably. 

Our products are designed in London and are manufactured at a family-run factory just 12 miles away from us, reducing our transport needs and cutting our carbon footprint.

Did you know 80 percent of plastic water bottles end up in landfill, and it takes up to 1,000 years for every single bottle to decompose? Shocked? We were too. Our car seats use 100% recycled plastic bottles in the cushion fillings, helping to divert plastic from landfill. The plastic waste is sorted and processed into Recycled PET (RPET), which is then spun into the recycled polyester used to plump up the seriously squishy cushions. 

We source as many components as possible from the UK. Where we can't source locally we try to find the next closest alternative to keep our carbon footprint down. Both our inner cushions and our faux-leather logo labels are GRS (Global Recycled Standard) approved and our care labels are made of recycled polyester.

We've invested in making our packaging 100% recyclable. 

By choosing long-lasting and hard-wearing materials, that are easy to clean and maintain, and using skilled British craftsmanship, we're increasing the lifespan of our products.

What's next?

As with any e-commerce brand, we're not perfect but we are constantly striving to implement the most ethical and sustainable production and materials. We are working with an amazing fabric consultant to help us source more sustainable fabrics, but without losing the current strength and durability. 

We are also looking to refine our packaging even further. Wow, who knew sourcing environmentally friendly packaging for a small business (with large products) was so challenging?! This has to be one of the hardest nuts to crack. Even the recycled cardboard boxes are shipped from China so are not that environmentally friendly after all. That’s why for now, we’ve opted for a 100% recycled plastic bag that is lighter weight and makes a smaller package which reduces the delivery footprint, and still helps to reduce some of those pesky plastics that go into the oceans.
